KATHMANDU CONNECTION - V View Reviews #13
Kathmandu connection is a gripping series with the real life incidents in the back drop. The credible performance by actors and a surprising reveal makes it interesting. The people who have witnessed the 1993 bomb blasts can easily empathize with this story.
The central character is DCP Samrath Kaushik (Amit Sail) who guns down two young men suspected of terrorism in an encounter. He is promoted and he becomes an encounter specialist in the Delhi police force.
The story starts very powerfully. It revolves around three parallel cases. The mysterious murder of the investigation officer, the kidnapping of a hotelier and the stalking of a journalist. DCP Samrath finds the connection between murder, abduction and stalking to a number of Kathmandu. He goes beyond the line of duty and goes to Kathmandu to join the pieces of the puzzle. His deepest and desperate desire to prove his worth forces him to do unlawful things at times and invite trouble for himself and his colleagues.
Then the story line switches to a love triangle involving a journalist, a cop, and a gangster. The narrative is primarily centered on these three characters.
The role of the TV journalist of prime time news anchor of global news is played by Aksha Pardasany. She reminds us of Shivani Bhatnagar on whose life Aksa's character is based.
The other lead character is Sunny Sharma, a don who kills whimsically but is also a passionate lover.
The gang wars and the characters remind us of Dawood, Chota Rajan, Babloo Srivastava of the 90s.
The solid performance by the principal casts makes this series worth watching. The story has been written out really well. It's on point, short and crisp with just six episodes laden with wittiest twists and turns and successfully keeps you hooked. It has all the ingredients for a crime thriller.
Amit Sail shines for his apt dialect and brilliant expression. Aksa Pardasany impresses us and has something different to offer. Anshuman Pushker as Sunny was a perfect blend of good and bad.
The other lead characters are Gopal Dutt, Vikram Singh, Sanjeev Chopra and Zakir Hussain.
The screen play could have been better but the background music added value to the viewing experience.
The series streams on Sony Liv.
