Ek Thi Begum is a revenge saga of a woman who loses her loved ones, first her husband then her unborn child. She was left with nothing to lose, so she fearlessly and boldly enters the world of goons and is determined to seek revenge at any cost.
Ashraf Bhatkar(Anuja Sathe), the protagonist is the wife of Zaheer(Ankit Mohan) around whom the story revolves. Zaheer was a confidante of Maqsood, the underworld don, but now an arc rival and is killed. She wants to overturn Maqsood's empire by hook or crook. Season 1ends when Ashraf is wounded by Maqsood's men. Season 2 starts with her recovery and her new identity as Leela Paswan. She teams up with the underworld goon Ashwin(Hitesh Bhojraj) a drug dealer and slowly takes over his gang. The new player Shaqueel Ansari(Shaad Ali) has entered the game. They are all her stepping stone to reach her husband's murderer. The police, the politician, the underworld are all haunting for her.
It's a powerful female lead story inspired by true events from the early 80s. Gang rivalry, police, political meddling, double-crossing, backstabbing continues for 12 episodes. The fast pace, twists and turns keep the audience hooked. Needless to say, violence is the underlying theme.
It is a typical Bollywood movie masala seasoned with foul language tadka dubbed in Hindi. Originally it is a Marathi language web series.
It is the performance of the cast members that makes it worth watching. The pivotal roles are played by Anuja Sathe, Deepak Mandlekar, Ajay Gehi, Ankit Mohan, Hitesh Bhojraj, Shahab Ali, Chinmay Mandlekar(shines in the role of a police officer who is caught between his feelings and his duty), Vijay Nikam, Reshman Shrivardhan, Rajendra Shisatkar, Nazar Khan, Saura Seni Maitra, Lokesh Gupte, Mir Sarwar, Purnanada Wandekar, Rohan Gujjar and others.
Overall it is a well-written story.  Music is decent and pleasing. The screenplay is also good. It is streaming on MX player.

Inspired by the true story of the 1999 IC 814 hijack, Kathmandu Connection is built on a fictional setup. This theme is used countless times in different series and movies but it still manages to engage the audience with tight storytelling techniques. The first season was inspired by the 1993 Mumbai blast and this season picks up 5 years after the events of the preceding season.
