BLOODY BROTHERS - V View Reviews #63
Bloody Brothers is an adaptation of the BBC mystery thriller series 'Guilt'.
It is a story of two brothers Jagjeet ( Jaideep Ahlawat) a lawyer and Daljeet( Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub) who runs a bookstore. One night, after a wedding reception, while returning home back, they hit an elderly man Samuel Alvarez( Asrani) who died on spot. The two brothers tried to cover up the crime. They dragged Samuel back to his room. There they saw a prescription and discovered that he was ailing from cancer. So they thought that the police would conclude it was a natural death. When Samuel's niece Sophie( Tina Desai) comes to the town, things get complicated and messy. Sheila ( Maya Alag) who keeps a close eye on the neighbourhood becomes a witness and starts blackmailing them. To solve the money issue they involve the money lender Handa( Satish Kaushik) a bald-pated mobster. More and more lies are told to cover up the crime, and more and more people get involved. Will the brothers get away with it or not is the plot. The plot is initially infused with a lot of humour but as the story progresses it takes a more and more serious tone.
The good point of this series is its fine ensemble cast. Jagjeet aka Jaggi rules over everyone, his wife, brother and office staff. As the story progresses he is enraged, agitated and frustrated. He was perfect in his role. So is Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub as Daljeet. He lives in the shadow of his brother. He keeps reciting Urdu poetry. This series is watchable because of Jaideep and Mohammed Zeeshan. Acting-wise Tina Desai, Shruti Seth, Jitendra Joshi, Satish Kaushik, Maya Alag and Mugda Godse were also good. The cinematography captures the beautiful setting of Ooty. Editing too smoothly switches between past and present.
The drawback is its common plotline, uninspired writing and execution. There were unexpected story twists but the climax fall flat leading to the thread for the second season.
Directed by Shaad Ali, this series is divided into six episodes. It is streaming on Zee5.
This is again a story of a dead body, several suspects and a hill station mystery. Nothing new...so for me 2.5/5 stars.
