GUILTY MIND - V View Reviews #67

Guilty Mind is a courtroom drama that is thought-provoking, entertaining and refreshing. There are two sides to every story it comes up with a liberal attitude toward both criminals and perpetrators. It gives a smart, crisp and realistic portrayal of the courtroom. Each episode has a distinct plot. The new episode opens with a situation in which a legal case is built and the matter is taken up in the court and solved at the end of the episode. Issues are mostly contemporary like casting couch, driverless cars, water rights, copyright infringement, artificial intelligence, IVF fraud, dating apps, violent mobile game and so on. Along with a new case in each episode, there is a running case of the murder of a child. The interpersonal relationships of the lawyers and their problems are another connecting factor between episodes.  The actors shared good chemistry as opponents,  rivals or lovers. This series explores a world of law and lawyers, ethics, morality, and facts on one hand and furnish it with a social cause, romance, sex, jealousy, office politics, legacy issues, lesbian story etc. There is a standup comedy in the bar giving social and political reality. Overall a good mix of legal and emotional drama.
Guilty Mind is well directed by Shifali Bhushan and Jayant Digambar Somalker. The lead actor Shriya Pilgaonker as Kashaf Quaze is the heart and soul of this tale. She is mesmerising as a lawyer. Similarly, Varin Mitra as Deepak Rana played his role with conviction. Sugandha Garg is also praiseworthy as Vandana Kathpalia a wise young lawyer. Pranay Pachauri as Shubrat Khanna and Namrata Seth as Shubhangi did justice to their characters. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Benjamin Gilani and Satish Kaushik are veteran actors here. Deepak Kalra's swag successfully sprinkles humour in the series. Sunitha Aiya as a private detective is impressive. Then we have actors as guest appearances like Suchita Krishnamurti, Shakti Kapoor, Karishma Tanna, Virendra Saxena etc, quite an interesting ensemble.
This legal drama of two young and ambitious lawyers is engrossing and engaging. Realism is praiseworthy and the choices of topics range far and wide. The screenplay is strong when the action shifts in the courtroom. The production design and camera work create a realistic ambience. dialogue and visual appeal are good.  Background music could have been better. The drawback is it's multiple subplots and tracks, too many characters and sometimes it is slow and boring.
Guilty Mind with its 10 episodes is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It
