.AVRODH:THE SIEGE WITHIN 2 - V View Reviews #76

Avrodh The Siege Within 2 is the visual adaptation of the book titled 'India's Most Fearless2' by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, with certain creative liberties. It is a military thriller revolving around terrorism like season 1. The first season was the fictional account of India's surgical strike that follows the ghastly Uri attack. Similarly, season 2 tackles the enemy on the defence and economic front. The story seems somewhat like a justification for the demonetisation. Both seasons are works of fiction, inspired by some real-life incident. Both seasons celebrate the courage of the Indian Army. They are not a sequel or linked by the storyline, they are rather parallel stories and can be watched independently.
The story begins with a case of counterfeit currency smuggled into India from across the border and intend to paralyse the Indian economy. The conspirators want to attack India in 3 stages counterfeit currency and terror attacks to destabilise India. They are plotting to blow up 25 planes in a day with 100 kg RDX that is smuggled into the country. In the process, they use mobiles, printers, and fake currency.
The series follows the course of Additional Income Tax officer Pradeep Bhattacharya's(Abir Chatterjee) journey who is also a captain in the Indian Army. The cat and mouse chase get interesting as both sides have planned their actions meticulously. Overall, the plot is intriguing and the performances are decent but the thrill quotient is low. It fails to lure the audience as it is not high in 'Josh'. Sometimes story too seems dragged. Few characters are introduced and left midway.  The screenplay too sometimes is weak. But, there are some parts packed with thrilling action that hook the audience to their seat. The military actions are well choreographed. The music blends with the plotline.
Coming to the performances, the cast is good. Abir Chatterjee shines as Army Captain Pradeep Bhattacharya. He is a popular Bengali film Star and it is his debut in the Hindi web series. His dialogue delivery with a Bengali accent sounds natural and fits the character. He made his character believable. Vijay Krishna as Imtiaz is impressive and likeable as a dependable ally of Pradeep. Sanjay Suri as an antagonist Ehsaan Waziri is the mastermind are extremely interesting to watch. Ahana Kumra as Parveen an ISI sleeper agent is captivating. Neeraj Kabi as Shailesh Malviya is effortless. Mohan Agashe , Anant Mahadev, Rajesh Khatter and the ensemble did justice to their character in the limited screen time they got.
Directed by Raj Acharya, written by Bijesh Jayarajan, and Sudeep Nigam, this thriller with 9 episodes is streaming on Sony LIV.
