Crash Course is a drama, where the story revolves around the business of education, the coaching mafia, and its impact on students' life. Kota a town in Rajasthan is a synonym for coaching preparation for IIT and NEET exams. Every year students flock there for admission. The journey of students, their friendship, peer pressure, and parental pressure are addressed. So are the distractions like Rav parties, drugs, teenage pregnancy, love, and romance is explored. Then this cocktail drama is mixed with the ugly side of the struggle between the coaching center. There is a fierce competition of power war between the institutes.
In this drama Crash Course, there is a game of greed between Ratanraj Jindals' RJ institute and Batra institute. Ratanraj Jindal wants his monopoly on coaching centers and resorts to all types of tricks. He dominates the city to an extent that he wants it to be renamed after him. He overtakes the other institutes, and even introduces banned medicines to get the students to perform their best, he doesn't mind even to take the advantage of students' suicide and can go to any extent to stay number one. His toughest competitor is the Batra institute owned by Arvind Batra( Siddhartha Kak) and is also known as The Father Of Education in Kota. He is a man of principles, but his sons Mayank Batra and Shashank Batra like Jindal get into the game of greed to become the best IIT coaching center in Kota. Amid this cutthroat rivalry, the consequence is the plotline. Students have their tension to sustain is relatable and addressed through various characters.
Once we start watching it, it appears like 'Kota Factory' they both explore the same theme. Here we have AK Sir(Pranay Pachauri) like Jeetu bhaiya in Kota Factory. Many other characters and situations seem inspired by this series. To enjoy Crash Course, it's better not to compare.
Though this series hold attention, its lengthy episodes and slow pace is exhausting at times. Sometimes felt a bit exaggerated too and a few subplots are not conclusively addressed. Theme lacks novelty and is therefore predictable .it's the good camera work and the background score combined with the performance of the actors make this show a decent watch.
Devilish Ratan Raj Jindal who is a greedy, selfish, scary, and ruthless businessman is brilliantly portrayed by Annu Kapoor. His dialect and body language are very apt to the role played. This show belongs to him. The other credible performance is done by Anushka Kaushik as Vidhi Gupta. Her role is remarkable. Rishi Kumar as Shanaya is convincing. Hridhu Jaroon as Sathya Srinivas is calm and impressive. So is Mohit Solanki as Anil Baid. Pranay Pachauri as A K sir is charming and graceful. His good look adds to the appeal. The other characters like Aviral Bharti by Bhavesh Balchandani, Rakesh Gulia by Aryan Singh, Nikki by Anvesha Vij, Tejal Patel by Hetal Gada, Antara by Bidita beg, Shashank by Bhanu Uday, Chirag Vohra as Mayank Batra, Arvind Batra by Siddharth Kak, Binny by Udit Arora are noteworthy. This is a multiple-character show. Some reel role is really relatable.
Directed by Vijay Maurya and created by Manish Hariprasad, the Crash course with ten episodes is streaming on Amazon Prime.
