DURANG - V View Reviews #82
DURANG- This word can be split into two ..Du..means two, rang is color/shades...so two shades. The lead character has a dual personality and that is the center point of the story. Summit Patil ( Gulshan Devaiah) on one hand is a caring husband, a devoted father, a perfect cook, and a good metal artist. On the other hand, he has a shameful past which he is hiding from his wife Ira(Drishti Dhami). Ira is a righteous police officer in the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. They are married for 11 years and have a baby Anya( Hera Mishra). They live a happy and contended life until one day a multiple murder case leads Ira to her home and her husband. The shocking revelation and the twisted dangerous past of her husband shatter their marriage that was built on a foundation of lies and deceit. There are several subplots woven with the story of Summit and Ira.
The plotline is interesting, fast-paced, and full of suspense, twists, and turns. The captivating narration keeps the audience glued to their seat. This series opens with mystery and ends on a cliffhanger laying solid groundwork for the upcoming season.
Durang is the remake of the South Korean show "Flowers Of Evil".The audience who has not seen the original show will find this series somewhat fresh. It is cleverly written by Charudutt Acharya, who manages to reveal nothing but tells you everything. You will be wildly guessing. The constant switching between past and present makes the story catchy. The consistent screenplay and the praiseworthy direction make this show worth watching. The background score successfully pushes the intriguing narration. But it is the powerful acting and the fast pace that make it a good series.
Gulshan Devaiah as Summit Patil has done a good job. His body language, style, attitude, and dialogue delivery with such ease are impressive. He was effortless in all shades of character. Drishti Dhami as a tough cop and caring mother is perfect. Abhijit Kandkekar helps to progress the story as a sensation sacking crime journalist Vikas. His past connection with the lead character is woven well. Kiran Srinivas as Nikhil Pradhan and Sparsh Walia as Laksha Ranade were well sketched. They are Ira's team members. Rajesh Khattar and Divya Seth Shah are the parents of Summit Patil. Zakir Hussain is a dreaded serial slayer and Barkha Bisht is his reel daughter. Amit Sadh had a tiny screen space this season. The ensemble is praiseworthy. There are a few flaws that can be easily ignored. This psychopath crime thriller drama web series Durang, developed by Goldie Behl is streaming on Zee5.
