GOOD BAD GIRL - V View Reviews #90
This is a light-hearted drama. The story revolves around 28 years young and an ambitious woman who has trained herself to lie to any extent to get what she wants. The lies land her in an odd situation and how she lies more to get out of it is the plot. The protagonist is Maya Ahuja( Samridhi Diwan) and the three different timelines of her life. First a small child, lovingly called Bulbul by her parents. Society, the surroundings, and the experience shaped her innocent mind. The second time zone is Maya, a law student in Pune called Mayo by her friends. Then a 28-year-old lady working as a lawyer in a firm. The creator tries to tell the story in a nonlinear style so all three-time zone is equally important for the plot.
The drama begins when Maya fabricates her illness story to sustain her job. Her lie not only managed to save her from being fired but also she received her cabin. She got sympathy, love, and respect. So she continued with her lie. Her colleague and rival lawyer Sahil knew she was lying and wanted to expose her. The cat and mouse chase between them is the main plot. Along with this, there are other threads of plot fabric. How Maya as a law student tried to fix the problem of her friend Jhilmil Lohia and her lover, her relationship with her charming and handsome boyfriend Prithivi Banerjee, and her relationship with her parents, She accuses women of punching her on the so-called cancer-infected breast as a 'Cancer Bitch' is also a thread of the plot weaving pattern. Overall, the whole drama revolves around Maya and her world of lies.
The insensitive plot is the greatest drawback of this series. The script too could have been better. However, the background score managed to give the desired effect. The editing was efficient and the cinematography is fine, capturing good shots. The strength of the series is the performance of the actors. Aradhya Ajana as Bulbul is the highlight of the show. Her charm, her innocence makes the show worth watching. Samridhi Diwan as Maya Ahuja outshines with her facial expression. She is convincing. Gul Panag as Maya's boss Zaina is efficient. She carried her role gracefully. Vaibhav Raj Gupta as Maya's colleague Sahil Mistry is a refreshing surprise in this role. Zain Khan Durrani as Maya's boyfriend Prithvi Banerjee is impressive but underutilized. Sheeba Chadda and Rajendra Sethi as Maya's parents are relatable. Sohum Majumdar as a consulting doctor Punit and Namratha Seth as Jhilmil Lohia was good.
The writer Vikas Behl and Chaitally Parmar, the creator intended a light-hearted show but it was not appealing. With 9 parts, this series is streaming on Sony LIV.
