THE MISSING STONE - V View Reviews #92
The Missing Stone is a mini-series of the post-pandemic era. The plot is too simple and has limited characters. Everything happens too easily and too quickly. The plot is about Dhwani(Bideta Beg)and Sahir(Barun Sobti) who are happily married. Their world turns upside down when Dhwani's sister Payal goes missing. After months of Lockdown Sahir, a real estate businessman goes to his secluded resort at Lonevla called 'The Stone House. Her wife Dhwani insists to celebrate her birthday there. She invites her sister Payal(Rashi Mal)as well. But she didn't come. As Payal was very particular about birthdays and surprises, Dhwani is restless when she does not come. She is anxious, she is suspicious. After some time the caretaker of the resort Somnath and Hema too disappeared. The whole plot revolves around Dhwani and Sahir's attempt to locate Payal and solve the mystery.
The vibes of the Pandemic is obvious with the vacant road, stores closed, people with mask, and so on. There are only six characters with no backstories or subplots, therefore it is predictable. The actors have done a decent job and they are believable. Apart from Barun Sobti, Bidita Beg, and Rashi Mal, the other characters are Saqib Ayub as Ryan, Vitthal Kale, and Pallavi Patil as caretakers of the resort. They are impressive in their limited role. The technical team too is good. Music floats with the theme. The cinematography is praiseworthy. It captures landscapes beautifully. Editing too is crisp. The story is kept short and completed in 5 episodes. The greatest drawback is it's writing. The script is very ordinary. Therefore nothing stands out and series appears dull. Directed by Vishal Furia and Alok Naik, The Missing Stone is streaming on MXPlayer.
