MUMBAI DAIRIES 26/11 - V View Reviews #34

With 26/11 as the backdrop, a nail-biting and gripping medical thriller 'Mumbai Dairies' is directed by Nikhil Advani and Nikhil Gonsalves. Along with this they smartly knitted the personal angle of the key characters that made this series interesting. Though the tragic story of 26/11 has been presented several times, the medical perspective has been shown for the first time in web series. The doctors, the nurses, the hospital personnel, the paramedical staff overall the medical fraternity displayed their courage, valour and fearlessness during this tragic emergency with an immense magnitude. Each actor got into the skin of their characters and made it believable. Though the series is a fictionalised version of the real incident, the vibes provided the audience with a sense of realism and authenticity. To give the real feel the locations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Gateway of India, Leopard Cafe were included. This drama also covers how the journalist tries to report the...

THE EMPIRE - V View Review #32

The Empire is an adaptation of a historical fiction novel by Alex Rutherford. Most of us are aware of Mughals and the founder of the dynasty Babur, but very few of us know about him before he arrives in India. Those who are fond of history should surely watch it as it is beautifully created by Nikhil Advani and directed by Mitakshara Kumar. Season 1 with 8 episodes is centred entirely on Babur and the different phases of his life. The Empire begins with Babur as a 14-year-old boy, who is crowned the king of Ferghana, but he flies when Uzbek leader Shaibani Khan ( Dino Morea) captures his fort. Most of his life is spent on winning back Ferghana and Samarkand but his dream is to come to Hindustan ruled by Mighty Ibrahim Lodi. The major portion of the series covers the tussle between Babur and Shaibani khan, the hero and the villain that forms the interesting storyline. However, the plot continues even after the defeat of Shaibani Khan. But then, there are no surprise elements as the audi...

LAKHON MEIN EK(season2) - V View Reviews #31

Laakhon Mei Ek(season 2)...is not a continuation of season 1as far as the plot is concerned, therefore it can be watched independently. Directed by Abhishek Sengupta, this series is dedicated to the junior Doctor, Shreya Pathak, who is posted in a remote village of Sitlapur to conduct a cataract camp that the government wants to organise just before the election is the plotline. Doctors posted in rural India have different challenges, especially deep-rooted corruption. It is beautifully and realistically captured on camera without any sugar coating. Shortage of medicine, lack of infrastructure, ignorance of people, hoarding of medicine, black marketing, more faith on quacks etc can be frustrating to the doctors posted there. They need to handle with sensitivity and maturity. This struggle of doctors is covered in season 2 and it's worth watching. Doctors are still a Nobel profession and the faith is resumed after watching this series. A homemaker just can not be a cook alone, they ...

LAAKHON MEI EK(SEASON1) - V View Reviews #30

Laakhon Mei Ek (season 1) is a series created by Biswa Kalyan Rath. The plot revolves around a teenage child Aakash. It's all about his struggle to fulfil his parent's dream. The high expectations of parents, the money-making agency like tutorial are covered broadly. It's a typical neighbourhood story where pride matters more than a child. The pathetic living conditions at the hostel of mass IIT Coaching Centre appeared realistic. The quality of life compromised by the parents is also true..finally, the child faces hopelessness and flees. Therefore the title may not be justified. Humour too seems forcefully inserted at times. Constant use of Telugu may not appeal to most of the audience. After seeing something like 'Kota factory' on a similar topic this series can be  disappointing. Screenplay and picturization are praiseworthy. Ritwik Sahore as Aakash, Alam khan as Chudail, Jay Thakkar as Bakri, Shiv Kunar Subramaniam as Mr Moorthy, Ajita Kulkarni as Mrs Gupta, Bis...
